Time Moves on

Being old, I think it is important that Instructors can reef a sail by rolling it around the boom. During my last instructor course I wandered around the club boatpark and could not find a gooseneck with a square section. Since this is essential for reefing around the boom, I began to think that I was getting rather old fashioned.

Then last weekend I went on a Sea Cadet training weekend and we were put up in a bunkroom. It was not exactly luxury and the snoring lead to a little sleep deprivation. Now this was the old fashioned way of doing things so why didn't I feel happilly nostalgic?

Different cultures - different expectations.
