Protests Are important

At the NSSA Regatta at Datchet and one team has just learn how important a protest can be. During the last heat for the Mount Haes Trophy a number of boats were called OCS. They claim they returned and started correctly - the race officer team were adamant theat they had not seen him do so.
It went to protest but he was (wrongly) told that he couldn't call witnesses from ashore. It appears most of the spectators thought they saw him do a very quick re-round. Without such evidence being presented the jury decided to go with the Race Officer and that was them out of the running as this was a knock out event.
